I'll always remember with fondness the class of 1949. As time goes by you remember fewer and fewer names of classmates, but cherish the warmth and friendship that was shone to me. I remember the first day in class when I was the first damn Yankee in our class. I had come to Bessemer from Lincoln Heights school in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had a sort of Brooklyn accent. I guess everyone laughed at my accent but I was quickly accepted into the class. My cousin Florence Wittenstein was also in our class, but she was a true southerner, born and bred in Alabama. It is great looking back at those days and wondering what my classmates have been doing over the years. I correspond with Charles Monzella and he keeps me up with the reunions. When I graduated I went to work for Sokol's Dept. Store for a while and with the Korean war raging I enlisted in the Air Force for four years. As luck would have it I was stationed in Montgomery, Ala at Gunter Air Force Base and at that time met Rita who lived in Birmingham. We were married and have two children and four grandchildren. We now live in Pembroke Pines, FL and enjoy the wonderful weather. I agree with you'all that those were wonderful times. Please write to me at:
